Thigh lift or thighplasty is a surgical procedure done to remove the excess skin and fat over the thighs to produce a firmer , aesthetically appealing contour . Saggy skin over the thighs can occur due to Excess weight loss Post bariatric surgery The excess skin over the thighs can cause difficulty in wearing clothes/ swimwear, can cause friction ulcers, and affect them psychologically.


It involves removing the excess skin and fat and redraping the skin to give a firmer and proportionally contoured appearance. It can be either a medial thigh lift , where the incision is placed along the groin and the excess skin over the inner thighs are excised and sutured. Or it may be lateral thigh lift where the outer thigh is addressed.

Type of Anesthesia

It is usually done under general anesthesia and the procedure takes 2-3 hours depending upon the extent of the surgery.

Post Operative Care

The patient is advised to stay overnight and the drains will be removed after 48 hours. Post operatively a compression garment has to be worn for a period of 4-6 weeks for optimal results.
