Hair Transplant

Hair transplant is a surgical technique in which hair follicles are removed from the donor site and placed over a bald or balding area. Hair follicles are usually taken from the back of the head or from the body(beard, chest etc).

Fut is done as an office procedure under local anesthesia and it takes six to eight hours depending on the number of grafts planned. There are two methods of hair transplant, the FUT method and FUE method.

FUT or folliculat unit transplantation is a technique in which a strip of skin is removed from the back of the head. This strip is then cut into small pieces and the grafts are harvested. The wound is closed leaving a fine scar which is hidden by the surrounding hair. The harvested grafts are then replanted into the recipient area.

Post Operative Course

The patients are requested to come for regular follow ups . Antibiotics and pain killers will be prescribed . Work can be resumed after a period of 4-5days. The transplanted hair will fall off within a period of 2-3 weeks. New hair growth will be noticed after a few months and within a period of 6-9 months upto 60% of hair growth can be seen.
